1. How long have you been wearing hearing aids?
29 years (I’m 30 years old). I wore the wold fashioned type that had the “pager” kind in front of you and huge beta-type ipod ear phones
2. What type do you wear?
AVR, One of the first (and oldest) digital hearing aids, have had them for about seven years. Need a pair.
3. One thing I could do to improve this website? Marketing. I have never heard from you guys. Facebook, Twitter, and social media utilities are a great way to market your website.
Cheers! and I really do need new supply of hearing aid batteries!
I wear hear aids for 42 years. I have two behind ear aids. The brand name is semens. The battery number is 675. I think your website looks good. Better than most website that are clutter all over on home page. Yours is pretty good.
1.Hi My son’s name is Nolan. He is almost 3 years old and has had hearing aids since he was 5 months old.
2. He has siemans and the battery number is 13.
3. I visited this site for education in general on cost etc. I found some great things on here! It was nice clean cut, easy to get through. I wanted to find cost etc for hearing aids as he grows. Did you know hearing aids are not covered by insurance? Especially for babies? It breaks my heart. Since we do not qualify for any assistance we are funding each pair of hearing aids and molds etc ourselves and it is quite costly! Running these prize giveaways are awesome! I agree about marketing…….I didn’t know about this site but I will certainly tell a lot of people now!
Thanks for the chance to win and to whoever does…….CONGRATS!
Hi Steve,
Can I link to this on my blog?
Sarah
1. I’ve been wearing hearing aids for 3 years.
2. I wear two BTE aids. Coversa.NT by Unitron. The hearing aid battery is size 10.
Here’s my suggestion for your website: I would like to read more personal stories like the one you wrote about “The LOOK”. That was great.
I’m posting about your giveaway now. Thanks, Sarah
1- I’ve been wearing hearing aids for roughly three years.
). They’re pretty amazing hearing aids- survived a washing machine!!! o_0
2- I wear phonak BTE (Behind The Ear) Savias. I use size 13 batteries (or ORANGE, the ORANGE STICKERS!! As I tell everyone
And I just wanted to go back and say THANK YOU for even offering this. In fact, I might be inclined to use a different size and donate them to a woman I know.. she is supplied hearing aid batteries from her audiologist, however I think they give them to her free because they’re older, and they only last 2 or 3 days. So she goes through them like water. Her hearing aids are a little old… idk. She might be getting new hearing aids soon, though.
1–How long have I worn aids?
I’ve been wearing aids since 1987, so over 20 years; they were my 30th birthday present.
2–What type do I wear?
I currently wear a pair of Starkey in the ear aids–I know they use size 13 batteries, but beyond that I have no idea what model, etc they are anymore–have mislaid all my paperwork on them; they are porgrammable but are one of the earlier models–no T-coil; they are 7 or 8 years old–so I desperately need some new ones, but like with so many other things for me right now, they are financially out of reach right now; so I keep praying the ones I have keep working, since right now I am unemployed (but actively looking for work) and have no insurance (not that aids are even covered by insurance, they aren’t but sure ought to be), and no way to get new ones.
3–was not familiar with this website; found my way here via one of my Google Reader feeds–”Speak Up Librarian” site; had to come check it out and enter, lol. I haven’t finished exploring your website yet, but have been looking at some of the blog links, and am enjoying what I see so far; at this point I don’t have any comments as to how to improve the site; perhaps I will have some later after I get to know it better.
I have a question- I know this blog is called “Deafness and Hearing Aids” and everything, but would this competition be open to cochlear implant users? I do believe Rayovac sells batteries made for Cochlear Implants…
Please?
I was sent here from Sarah’s blog, by the way..
Are you saying that you have to buy your own batteries?? I get mine free from the hospital (which is the Great Western in Swindon – I’m not that far from you as I live in Wootton Bassett!!). Even though I get mine free, I would love to have a great stash of batteries at home (just changed my batteries this morning in fact – I kept turning up the tv as I’m watching the tennis!!)
Anyway…..been wearing hearing aids for about 34 years (I’m 35!!) and I am currently wearing Oticon Spirit 3 SP hearing aids – they’ll do for now!! ha ha!!
Hey– I found your site through Speak Ups blog. I have never seen your site before, so I agree with the above commenter who suggested you work on marketing a bit. Your site doesn’t come up on google when I do a search for hearing aids or hearing loss
1) I have worn hearing aids for 28 years.
2) I currently wear Phonak Naidas, size 13 batteries.

Hi I’m 41 been wearing hearing aids for a year “both ears”
Using Phonak certena and they are crisp clear and they use a number 13 battery.
All these years I’ve told my wife I can’t hear her and she though I was ignoring her and eventually had my ears tested and the most frequency are at -4 db but at 2khz it at -10db and that seems to be the worst bit of my ears.So women out their ,just maybe you should have your hubby ears tested, just maybe they not ignoring you ,maybe just a bit deaf.

Comment about website:
I was just reading an article on your website about not being able to hear and taking off moist hearing aids. That may be true but, for the most part, even before my hearing deteriorated to the 80% level, in group settings (even when I was 40% deaf) it is very difficult to hear. I now have a CI in my right ear and can hear in many settings where I couldn’t before.
1. How long have you been wearing hearing aids?
I’ve worn hearing aids since Oct 1966 – started with one BTE ‘to see if it would help’ and got the second a year later. I can’t figure out how I got through my first year of school without them.
2. What type do you wear?
Currently – a pair of Starkey Endeavours. I had Oticon BTE aids for decades, then was able to wear in the ear aids for a decade. My last test showed a decline in hearing leves, so I had to go back to BTE aids. My dream is for the canal aids to become powerful enough to handle my hearing loss. I would love to have no visible evidence of my hearing loss.
Note – if I happen to win this contents please donate the batteries to someone who can’t afford to purchase their own.
Improvements to your site -this is the first time I’ve seen your site – I too linked to this site through the Speak up librarian site. I will add your site to my RSS feeds.
i wear an in the ear aid ,Phonak in the right ear,and a bte starkey hearing aid in the left. I’ve been wearing hearing aids for approx 20 years
I have been wearing hearing aids for almost 36 years. I have always worn Oticon hearing aids. The ones I have now are Oticon Epoq. Up until a year and half ago I just wore one hearing aid but now I am wearing two hearing aids. What a difference it makes. The size of my batteries are 312. This is my first time to your site via Sarah’s blog. I am always looking for new information about hearing aids and accessories.
I have been wearing hearing aids for 14 years. I saw your sight as I was browsing for a new kind. I wear Starkey in the canal aids but they are the old kind and I would love to try something new. Someday maybe insurance will help us pay for them!!!
Thanks!
I am 24 years old and I have been wearing hearing aids for 21 years (since I was 3 years old!) I came across your site because I googled reviews for my new hearing aids which I just purchased yesterday. So I have a brand new pair of Phonak Naida 3 SuperPower. Pretty much all my life I have been wearing Starkey hearing aids, and since 2002 I had CIC from Starkey. I do not like CIC at all, no programming options and I guess they were not powerful enough for me. So now I have BTE and so far…. I LOVE THEM! Thanks!

I have been wearing 2 Oticon Epoq XW RITE (bilateral) hearing aids since June 11, 2008 . I get my 312A batteries at COSTCO ($50 yearly Member Charge) for $9.39 per 30 pack (31.3 cents per battery – 62.6 cents per week – batteries last about 7 – 8 days). My warranty is for two years and includes all revisits for adjustments. I went to the Audiology Department at UCLA ($3,400 per hearing aid x 2 = $6,800 a little expensive). Medical insurance/Medicare pays for the annual visits and hearing tests.) I am thinking of buying and extended warranty. I am reasonably happy with these hearing aids, much better hearing than without them, but normal natural hearing would be best LOL of course. I never used any other hearing aids, so can’t make a comparison.

My first hearing aid was issued to me around 43 years ago through the NHS (England). This was the body worn type with a length of cable fastened to the ear mould.(Still have the mould some where) Graduated to a behind the ear aid when I was trialled as one of 12 children to be issued with this type of aid. (Behind the ear aids were a big step forward then!)
Today I use a CIC hearing aid Starkey Destiny which uses the yellow coded battery packs. I enjoy how discreet CIC aids are, a far cry from 43 years ago!
I wear two Phonak Mini Valeo BTEs with custom eartips. The open fit domes kept coming out of my ears. They are a translucent charcoal colour which I think is pretty neat. I’ve had them coming up 4 years and they use size
10 batteries. I’m a bit disappointed they haven’t got volume controls as I don’t always find the preset programmes
suitable but my ‘audi’ seems reluctant to prescribe anything else.

I’ve been wearing hearing aids alllll my life. I’m not sure what brand I’m wearing..I think it’s generic because I can’t see any brand name. I was also taking hearing aids for granted…letting the audiologist choose for me until I realize that many late deafened tend to do their homework! Now, I will. I wear a size 675 battery.
I know this is closed but I wanted to say congrats to the person who won and thank you for running things like this! Have a good one everybody!
SOOOOOOO…………….WHO WON?
Paul from Charlottetown, Canada was the lucky commenter!
