Would you buy or sell a hearing aid through this site?
A few people have responded to my article about second hand hearing aids - there’s been a few offering aids either cheaply or for free and a few people asking for them.
Would you consider using this site to buy or sell a hearing aid?
If enough people are interested and you feel that this site is a trusted place to buy and sell hearing aids then I’ll try and set something up. A deaf Craigslist or something like that. I’m not looking to make any money from this - I strongly believe many people would benefit from a second hand market and I would love to see it happen.
Please let me know what you think. Good or bad idea? Legal minefield? Would you, or do you know someone, who would use it?
We have a pair of Siemens CENTRA Active - CIELO 2 Active hearing aids. We purchased them this year, my mother wore them approximately 2 weeks………and unfortunately passed away in March 2008. We would love to have these hearing aids used by someone - but we did pay thousands and if there is a chance we can sell them, naturally at a lower price, that would be our first choice. Any suggestions? Thank you.

I am planning on adding a section to this site to allow people to buy and sell hearing aids online. I’m hoping it’ll be ready in 2-4 weeks. It will be completely free to use - so if you can wait a few weeks then you will be able to sell those aids on this site!

I would do anything to get my father an old hearing aid, I have no disposable income and have used my credit card almost to the max to pay for caring for my parents. I would do anything to have my father hear again. He used to love music.

I purchased a pair of Siemans Accuris digital hearing aids in August 2006.
Since purchasing them, within a few months my hearing problem improved and I no longer required the hearing aids.
Therefore, it is with regret, that the hearing aids have not been used in all this time.
I paid almost £3,000 for them on the date of purchase, which was alot of money out of my funds.
Although, at the time my hearing was a priority and I had the funds available to purchase the hearing aids.
That’s why in my opinion, if I’d known about second hand hearing aids being available.
I would certainly have considered this option.
To give someone else the opportunity II’d be willing to sell my hearing aids at a reasonable cost that people can afford and put their quality of hearing first

Where will you find the services of a second-hand hearing aid audiologist in order to confirm that the second-hand hearing aids are appropriate for your hearing loss and then correctly program them to your hearing loss ?
Inappropriate or incorrectly programmed hearing aids can damage your remaining hearing further !!
If you can’t afford correctly specified new hearing aids then the NHS are there to help at no charge…….
Second Hand Hearing Aids ,specially if there still under warranty would be great! Especially with the all the money that can be saved.They can be easily reprogrammed by an audiologist to fit your needs. The one thing you must do before hand is research the brand and type most fitting for you.
My Neice has hearing loss from birth, no money and is a mother of three. Her hearing loss is an obstacle to getting a well paying job. Can anyone help her? Please Thank you for your consideration of this request.
I have a pair of digital music pro itc hearing aids I would like to sell. I paid around $4000 for them. I hardly use them now since I have an 18 month old that likes to pull them out. buy hearing aid online may not be good idea unless you willing to pay audiologist to adjust your hearing aid every time for check up or services, so better to buy from audiologist or hearing aid place and you will always get free services to check if working properly. My BTE (2) work fine and everytime I go for adjust, I get free. no fee services or pay tube to attach earmold. replace tube every 6 months earmold every 3 or 4 years. so, better to buy from Hearing aid shop than online.
I would defiantly purchase here. As for after sale service I still have to pay for them even with a new hearing aid so there will be no difference between new and second hand.
I’ve been hard of hearing for a number of years. I couldn’t do my job without hearing aids. I am a teacher and depend on hearing well. I purchase new hearing aids every other year or so and would love to be able to sell my old still good ones.
We were able to buy hearing aids for my husband 9 years ago. Since then one has broken and can’t be repaired and the other is so old it’s about shot. We just went through cancer treatment and ca’t afford to buy new ones either and we’d be willing to buy used. We’d go to our audiologist and she’d program, molds, etc…whatever necessary. I hope something comes of this, it sounds like lots of people would benefit!
I am working as a physicist and three Ph.D. Student. in molecular Biology I lost my hearing power from from my child hood because of perforation in tympanic membrane and osicial also disturbed age is 52 years and not interested to operate as I am algitic to candida abica a natural flower grow with antibiotic Secondly being a academician intrasted in digital hearing other wise get headache and loss hearing power and not able to concentrate. I need it only in conference to hear the speech and convocation for discussion rest of the time I manage my self with loud sound and lipreading my nerve conduction is very good or quite extraordinary If possible i need second hand digital hearing aid do writ on my mail.

I am a 76 year old man living on old age pension and canada pension. I payed $2300 for hearing aids at “listen it up” five years ago. My sister generously covered the cost. Two years ago my apartment was robbed and my hearing aids went missing . I’ve been without them ever since. I can hear male voices if spoken clear enough, but have trouble hearing women or children and my daughter’s and grandchildren’s voices are my favorite sounds. Is there any help availble?

I am amazed someone isn’t doing this already. All you really need is a custom earpiece to put the used hearing aid in. The hearing aids are such a racket. When you can purchase an Ipod for a few hundred dollars but a hearing aid costs $2,000. Give me a break, it is the same radio frequencies. What do they cost to make (uncustomized) anyone know? Sort of like eyeglasses, $1.00 at tje dp;;ar stpre. I feel you have a good idea and would work fine for those of us with hearing aids already that would like to upgrade.

I have a pair of Bernafon by swiss ear hearing aids. They were used for less then a month. We paid over $3000 for them. I am asking $800.00 for them. I live in Florida, but will ship them anywhere. July 2, 2009. I think you have a good Idea. I have wished I could do something like you propose for hearing aids, wheel chairs, lifts, etc. The letters already posted mostly refer to high end hearing aids. I wear cheaper behind the ear models. I already have ear molds and tubing so I wish I could find a good working bte for a reasonable price. I once came across someone from Houston who was selling these bte aids for $20.00 each, but I lost his address. I have been buying hearing aids by mail order from Illinois. I get them for about half of what I would pay locally. The only problem is that you have to be creative in getting your ear mold to fit where it don’t hurt your ear. The biggest problem is that no hearing aid I have had has ever lasted more than 3 or 4 years, usually not more that 18 months without having to be sent back for repairs, which cost from $90to 150. That gets expensive for my income.
Good luck on getting this going.
