My brother inlaw is 59, and going def in both ears. He is mentaly inpaird, and lives on dis. of $714.00 a month. How can I find help for him?
I am 40 years old, I have been wearing a hearing aid since I was thirteen, I’m a single parent of two children and I have two elderly living with me and my income is limited and right now mine is broken and I am looking for help in getting one. If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it .
I purchased hearing aids from NatureEar that were supposed to have a lifetime warranty on them. The repair that I needed was almost immediately after acquiring them. After a year went by, both hearing aids stopped working. I had to pay a substantial amount of money to have them repaired on this “lifetime warranty”. When I got them back they squealed but did not work; one was split through the silicone body of the aid. When I told them about it, they wanted yet more money to repair it again. I’m obviously not going to throw any more money away on these aids.
Technology on these aids does not exist to replace normal hearing, and insurance companies do not value hearing as an important aspect of health and well-being. Employers DO discriminate more with hearing impaired people than with people who wear glasses to aid them to see better. I do not personally consider one aid better than another. I can actually do better than most people imagine with my deafness because I’ve been dealing with it for so long. However, it is uncomfortable to not be able to hear people when they talk to me. And I’m just as tired of asking them to repeat themselves as they are to do it.
Why can’t hearing aids come down in price and be offered at the local Walmart or the every other corner pharmacy stores? I think that a ITE silicone body right/left set shouldn’t cost more than $99.00 per set at the most. Since most last only a year, it would mean that folks who need them would be buying them yearly. That should be more than enough for the companies who make them to earn a nice tidy profit from our heaing loss; don’t you think?
Can we write to senators, governors, or whoever we need to write to in order to have the hearing aid laws changed so this can happen? I’m under the impression that hearing aids are supposed to have a prescription from a doctor and so forth inspite of the ones that are sold online to anyone who wants them. But they should be readily available to anyone who needs them.

My goodness I am so saddened reading these stories, I purchased my 1st hearing aid today!!! OMG it’s sad that NO insurance will pay
for anyone that is low income have you tried your local medicaid office I live in New Mexico and ive been told Medicaid pays for them I don’t qualify for medicaid Thank God I am able to make payments..BUT NO CHILD OR LOW INCOME PERSON SHOULD BE WITHOUT A HEARING AID WHEN THEYRE NEEDED!!!!!!!
I am a 61 year old lady and am living on a fixed income and can not afford a hearing aide, I am hoping that there is some place I can go to get one at a cheap price, they are so pricey.
Thank you
I have a friend who cannot afford a hearing aid. If I could buy her one I would, however, I am not in a position to do so. It would be greatly appreciated if I could get information to give to her so that she could get one free. Her husband is unemployed presently and also dealing with medical issue. She is hard working and has insurance at place of employment but will not cover the hearing aid. She is only in need of one for her left ear. I only just discovered that she needs it. I finally asked why she was speaking so loud and this is what she told me.
I hope there is someway for her to receive . thank you in advance
Hi to anyone out there who would like to pay attention to my plea.
I am a 84 year old pensioner living with my daughter in Durban South Africa, and for the last few years I have suffered from severe hearing loss. Even though I am 84 I feel like a 28 year old and my hearing problem is a serious issue within the household. I even battle to hear my grand daughter when she skype’s from the USA where she is working and the last thing I want to do is to miss out on her experience.
As we do not have a medical aid and the price of a good hearing instrument is R30 000.00 which is above my or my daughters financial means, i would like to request that if anyone has a free or minimal payment aid for me, it would be so much appreciated.
God bless and kind regards
Nan Peltz
Ps. My email address is atkinson_moira@yahoo.com.
