Specsavers offering cheap hearing aids
Mar 20th, 2007 | By Steve | Category: ThoughtsMany branches of Boots and Specsavers now have a hearing aid service in-store. Boots have the David Ormerod sections in many branches and Specsavers have Hearcare. Yet, even though these have been around for quite a while now I’ve never thought about using them. Why? Well, I’ve been a customer of small hearing aid company for years and have never really thought about going anywhere else. As well as that, I have always dismissed Boots and Specavers as being less professional and less knowledgeable than Aston - don’t know why I thought that, stupidity probably!
So, now I really need to get some new aids - I currently have a pair of Siemens analogue ITEs that are just not powerful enough any more.
I’ve just been looking on the Specsavers website and, to be honest, their prices cannot be ignored. As well as those inviting looking prices, their site also says that my nearest Hearcare branch are currently doing a 2 for 1 offer. Even if I got their most expensive Halcyon aid - that would be two new digital hearing aids for about £1500. Just to seal the deal, they have a two year guarantee on all aids.
I’m there already!
EDITED ON 13th AUGUST 2007: I THINK SPECSAVERS HAVE NOW STOPPED THIS OFFER. CHECK WITH YOUR LOCAL BRANCH TO FIND OUT.
Why not NHS hearing aids? They are digital after all you paid your taxes!!
Or is it that you don’t want to wait.
Interesting blog by the way
Hi Fintan,
I’ve heard some horror stories about the length of time people have had to wait. I was missing out on too much conversation with my old Siemens ITEs and needed something sharpish.
I guess I paid for my impatience!
Hi
My postcode is RG41 Wokingham. I am interested in the 2 for 1 offer for a digital hearing aids. Where can I go for this. Many thanks
Hi Ellen,
The Specsavers hearcare store locator has the following for your nearest branches: Camberley, Staines, Maidenhead or Walton On Thames.
Unfortunately, I think the 2 for 1 offer has finished.
Hi,
Specsavers have still have this offer on, and they have also extended the range of hearing aids to incorporate other brands (including oticon and starkey). Their inital range used to be mainly siemens component. Don’t be confused by the ‘advance’ branding - the components are all the main manufacters!
I have had excellent service from a small hearing aid company in the same time, however when the price difference is coming to 55% difference, it’s difficult to rationalise going anywhere else!
Hi Amy,
I was in a similar position to you. I had been buying hearing aids from a privte vendor for many years and always received an excellent service and great hearing aids. Then I saw Specsavers offer and even though I was slightly wary of going to a “big name” I just couldn’t turn down the offer - I was saving too much money!
Thankfully, it all worked out. I got a pair of Starkey Destinys for half the price I would pay elsewhere and I also got a great service. I will definitely consider going back to Specsavers for my next pair of hearing aids, especially if they still have an offer going like this one!
Yes, Specsavers are doing the two for one deal again and I am told it should go on until summer this year.
As a poster said above, they do use the main manufacters - so that Siemens and Phonak and Starkey are indeed making the aids for Specsavers. But Oticon are not (cos they own Hidden Hearing).
Specsvers current price list is on their website.
